Analysis: Former intelligence officer David Grusch sat down with Joe Rogan on September 30, 2026, and said things that even many of his own supporters are struggling to defend. Here is what he actually claimed, what he admitted he did not see, and why the reaction has been so divided.
When David Grusch testified before the House Oversight Committee on July 26, 2023, he built his reputation on sworn statements and careful language. His second major sit-down with Joe Rogan, episode #2560 of The Joe Rogan Experience, was a very different kind of conversation. Over roughly three hours he described crashed craft, living reptilian beings, a “Greek god” video, an underwater base and a coming disclosure he says will arrive before the end of the Trump administration. The clips went viral within hours, and the UFO community has been arguing about them ever since.

What David Grusch Claimed on Joe Rogan
The claims that drew the most attention came in the second half of the episode. Reporting from IBTimes UK, Dexerto and Cybernews all converge on the same core list, and it matches the transcript.
A crashed craft, dead “grays” and living reptilians
Grusch described a crashed tic-tac-shaped craft that, according to people he says he knows, held dead grays and living reptilian beings. He relayed a description of figures more than seven feet tall, with gorilla-like builds and scaly skin. Asked what happened to the survivors, he said they were shot because they posed a threat, and that US personnel were injured and killed in the encounter. He declined to give numbers or names. He also described what he called conflict between different non-human groups, saying there are records of them fighting each other.
The “Greek gods” video
Grusch said he viewed government video of three or four dead, very human-looking beings with pale, bluish-white skin. He connected the description to a remark retired Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland reportedly made to musician and UFO researcher Tom DeLonge: “think of the Greek gods.” Los Angeles magazine reports that he then raised McCasland’s still-unsolved February 2026 disappearance and said “I know a lot about General McCasland,” without explaining what he meant or offering evidence of any connection. He also noted that McCasland had some age-related and mental-health issues, and he did not rule out suicide.
An underwater base and a “Ghostbusters” warning
Grusch told Rogan that officials know of an underwater facility of “multiple city blocks” scale where craft come and go, but declined to say where, citing sensitive Navy matters, as IBTimes UK reported. He also described a real fear inside government of a “Ghostbusters moment,” meaning a reaction from non-human third parties once disclosure happens.
The disclosure prediction
Grusch predicted that “before Trump’s term ends,” what he has testified about will come out: recovered craft, recovered non-human intelligence and reverse engineering. He praised the president’s declassification order, which led to the PURSUE releases rolling out since May. He also said he and Rep. Eric Burlison obtained a still-classified 1952 recording from Project Blue Book. That is the same cluster of material our readers saw in Release 06, and it is covered in our report on Burlison’s SCIF interview.
What He Admitted He Did Not See
The most important detail is one Grusch volunteered himself. On the reptilians, he said: “I’ve never seen that personally.” The account came from a colleague and other sources, not from his own eyes. He added that it “sounds so schizo” and that he could not believe he was saying it on Joe Rogan. Rogan himself called it “kooky talk,” with the caveat that if it were real it would not sound kooky.
That framing matters. In 2023 Grusch also relied on information provided by others, but the testimony was under oath and tied to specific oversight questions. On this episode there was no oath, no names, no documents and no footage the public can examine. He also pushed back on some of the wilder theories, saying the “missing scientists” story was “a little overblown” and that he did not see “a ton of correlation.”
Why the UFO Community Is Divided
This is the part of the story that is easiest to overstate, so here is what is actually documented. The clearest backlash is on the r/UFOs forum, as Cybernews documented. Users called the reptilian story “straight from a bad novella,” asked why Grusch had gone from pushing government transparency to telling an unprovable crash story, and a few accused him of chasing interviews. Some went as far as calling him a grifter, a charge we have no evidence for and do not endorse.
The reaction is not one-sided. Many supporters see a long-standing pattern: Grusch has said for years that he is relaying what insiders told him, and the interview is consistent with that. Others argue that the Pentagon’s new legal cover for whistleblowers means more witnesses may finally be able to speak, which would settle the matter either way. A third group is uncomfortable for a practical reason: if the disclosure movement wants Congress and the public to take it seriously, a reptilian shootout told secondhand is a difficult story to bring to a hearing room.
We want to be clear about the limits of the evidence. Reddit is not the whole community, and we could not find on-the-record statements from other prominent whistleblowers and journalists specifically about this episode. The division is real, but how deep it runs among Grusch’s closest allies is not yet documented.
The timing adds fuel. Dexerto noted that the claims echo similar allegations from former Pentagon UFO consultant Eric Davis, who said the US holds bodies from several species. Two prominent voices making escalating biological claims in the same season, without public evidence, is exactly what skeptics point to.
What the Official Record Says
The government’s published findings point the other way. The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) said in its March 2024 historical review that it found no verifiable evidence that the US government or private companies recovered or reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology, and it judged specific claims about people, places and documents tied to alleged programs to be inaccurate. AARO’s first director, Sean Kirkpatrick, told the Senate in April 2023 that investigators had found no credible evidence of extraterrestrial activity. Both points are summarized by IBTimes UK.
Grusch’s answer is that the evidence sits inside compartmented programs the public cannot see. That is a coherent position, but it is also unfalsifiable until someone produces a record, a witness or an object. What This Means for Our UFO Disclosure Clock
Our own UFO Disclosure Clock only moves on hearings, bills, declassified documents or independently corroborated testimony. It does not move on rumor, speculation or secondhand accounts, and this interview is, by Grusch’s own description, secondhand. We are therefore leaving every score unchanged. The reading below is live.
What would move it: a named witness going on the record, a document released through PURSUE that confirms any part of the account, or a congressional hearing where the claims are put under oath. Until then, this episode is a data point about the state of the conversation, not about the state of the evidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
What did David Grusch say on Joe Rogan?
On episode #2560, released September 30, 2026, Grusch described a crashed tic-tac craft with dead grays and living reptilians that were killed by US personnel, video of human-looking beings he compared to Greek gods, an underwater base, and a prediction that disclosure will come before the end of the Trump administration.
Did David Grusch see the reptilian beings himself?
No. He said he never saw them personally and was relaying what people who were present told him. He did say he viewed video of the human-looking beings.
Is there any evidence for the reptilian claims?
No public evidence exists. Grusch offered no names, documents or footage, and the Pentagon’s AARO has said it found no verifiable evidence of recovered extraterrestrial technology.
Why are Grusch’s own supporters divided?
Some supporters feel the secondhand, sensational claims undermine the credibility he built with sworn testimony in 2023. Others see them as consistent with what he has always said about relaying insider accounts. The clearest documented backlash is on the r/UFOs forum.
Did Grusch link General McCasland’s disappearance to UFOs?
He called the disappearance “very bizarre” and said he knows a lot about McCasland, but he provided no evidence of a connection, and none has been publicly confirmed. He also did not rule out suicide.
Does this change the UFO Disclosure Clock?
No. The clock does not move on secondhand or unverified claims, so the reading stays unchanged.
